Romance in Detroit is a duo, made of Tacoma WA residents Justin Taminga (Assertion, Pig Snout) and Sam Brown (Goldmnd), creating melodic fusions between style and genre. Without fealty to any particular aesthetic, foundational aspects from their individual worlds of work bring nostalgic concepts merged with new ideas of alternative rock, funk, electronic, lo-fi and hip-hop.

Their name, a tribute to Tony Scott’s True Romance, prefaces the grit, soul and hopefulness of their resilient sound that feels like the new growth seen after a fire. Fertilized by what came before, striving for something new.
